Are my conversations with a Resident Services Office staff member confidential?

In order for residents to have trusted working relationship with the Resident Services Office staff, it is important for residents to know that any information shared will not be discussed with anyone. This means that personal information will not be revealed to anyone, including property management staff or a resident’s family, without explicit written permission, unless required by law. Exceptions to this include federal and/or state law or federal housing regulations which may require a staff member to disclose certain information, but only in extreme circumstances.

I need to print paycheck stubs/bank statements/child support documentation/etc. to turn in with my application/recertification packet for the LDCHA. Can you help?

What is Moving to Work (MTW)?

The Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority’s (LDCHA) Moving to Work (MTW) Demonstration project is a special program offered by HUD intended to move families to self sufficiency, increase housing choice, and reduce administrative burden. The LDCHA's program is designed to provide greater housing benefits for working families than traditional subsidized housing programs through combining a value-based fixed rent structure in an affordable range with definitions of countable income and allowances.

What is the MTW rent structure?

The MTW project features a rent structure that removes income as the only factor in setting rent and adds market value to the rent determination formula. It establishes annual minimum by bedroom size and requires all able-bodied adults to work a minimum of 15hrs or to be in school full time.

What are the work, community service, and family self-sufficiency requirements?

All adults must work at least 15 hours per week or participate in the LDCHA’s Family Self-Sufficiency Employment and Education Program for 15 hours per week. Tenants who are already employed, participating in a job-training program, or attending school (high school, GED classes, college, or vo-tech), already meet the work requirement. Information about school attendance and employment training programs is collected when assistance is offered and at annual recertifications. Job search, skills enhancement, employment training, and other services are available to all LDCHA program participants through the Resident Services Office.
